Could not login. You have not provided valid authentication credentials.

  1. The most common cause of this error is a password being typed incorrectly. Please verify that you typed in the password correctly. If this does not solve the problem, please check to see if you can login to http://webmail.jmu.edu. If you can continue to step 2. If you cannot your password will need to be changed. To do this go http://accounts.jmu.edu and click "reset password"
     

  2. The next cause for this error is incorrect settings.

    To verify security settings:
    - Start Internet Explorer
    - Under the Tools menu, select Internet Options...
    - Click the Security tab
    - Click the Internet Zone (globe icon) to select the default security for the browser
    or if you have added Blackboard to your list of Trusted Sites click the green checkmark to select the Trusted Sites Zone.
    - Click the Custom Level button
    - Scroll down to the Scripting section (near the bottom)
    - Make sure the option for Active Scripting is set to Enable.
    - Click OK
    - Click OK when prompted to change the security level for this zone
    - Click OK to close the Internet Options window. 

    To verify cookie settings:
    - Start Internet Explorer
    - Under the Tools menu, select Internet Options...
    - Click the Privacy tab
    - Set the slide bar to Medium

    -Click ok
     

  3. The third cause for this error is a lack of an update. You may be lacking the latest "hotfix" (patch) to clean up a security hole in the Windows OS.
    Install all critical updates and service packs from the Windows Update site. 

    -Start Internet Explorer
    -Click on Tools
    -Click Windows Update.
